Wakefield Council announced a £12m plan to redevelop Belle Vue in September 2017 but the club had wanted to proceed with plans to build a new stadium in Rothwell, first announced in 2010. For several years fans had hoped Trinity would move to a new community stadium on land to the north of Wakefield in Stanley, but despite planning permission being granted in 2012 the ground was never built. And this is exactly what has happened. Wakefield Trinity are delighted to announce that, following on from the acquisition of the freehold of their stadium and adjoining land, the local community are being asked to give their views on facilities and services that could be provided and made community accessible as part of proposed plans for a new stand at the club’s Belle Vue stadium. "If this proves to be satisfactory, then the club will stay at Belle Vue for 2018 and be in a new stadium as soon as possible.
