With 15 teams across the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia, the Coastal Plain League has sent 138 players on to the major leagues. The modern league was formed with six teams in 1997. The North is made up of the Edenton Steamers, Martinsville Mustangs, Peninsula Pilots and Wilson Tobs, while the South is the Florence RedWolves, Lexington County Blowfish, Macon Bacon and Savannah Bananas.
